Newsletter: Winter Williams Presents: Tongo Eisen-Martin! Montclair Restaurant Walk!

QUALITY VIBE BLAST

Hello Beautiful People!

Thanks for pausing a moment to read about what’s going on here at Winter Williams Presents (WWP).

Happy to share I’m FINALLY starting to expand the site’s content to include more about our unique services, gatherings, resources, philosophies, etc. If you give a hoot, sneak a peek.

I’ve also been busy planning some really neat gatherings, two of which are coming up soon and worthy of your attention.

The first (this Sunday, May 7th in Oakland) is a house concert performance, discussion and open mic opportunity featuring San Francisco Poet Laureate Tongo Eisen-Martin.

Following Tongo’s performance will be a moderated discussion and open mic time, during which all voices will be welcomed and encouraged to share a brief story, poem, song or reflection.

Here is a video of Tongo Eisen-Marten on PBS' Brief but Spectacular you might appreciate.

More on the artist:
Tongo's latest curriculum on the extrajudicial killing of Black people, We Charge Genocide Again, has been used as an educational and organizing tool throughout the country. His book titled, "Someone's Dead Already" was nominated for a California Bookstore Award. His book "Heaven Is All Goodbyes" was published by the City Lights Pocket Poets series, was shortlisted for the Griffins Poetry Prize, and won a California Book Award and an American Book Award. His latest book "Blood On The Fog" was released this Fall in the City Lights Pocket Poets series and named one of the New York Times poetry books of the year. In 2020, he co-founded Black Freighter Press to publish revolutionary works. He is San Francisco's eighth poet laureate.

Doors will open at 12:30pm and the gratuity request is $10-20 (sliding scale) per guest. This will be a family-friendly gathering with potluck participation encouraged but optional.

Word of mouth remains the best form of promotion so do please pass this along to anyone you feel might be interested in attending.

To RSVP or ask questions, text 510-288-7918 or click below to email the WWP team. The location (near Lake Temescal) will be provided when the RSVP is confirmed.

Another family-friendly gathering coming soon will be the 2023 Montclair Village Restaurant Walk on Tuesday, May 16th from 5-8pm.

Local restaurants and businesses will offer ticketed patrons samples of delicious bites and libations (including craft beer, artisan wines and mocktails) in addition to community connection and entertainment by Nikki Borodi.

Full event details and tasting tickets are available through Eventbrite so time to plan a family-friendly night out and invite your local loved ones!

That’s all from me for now. Don’t forget to check out WWP’s site to learn about other quality vibe gatherings and as always, thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Winter :)
